Predatory journals continue to cause major problems for all stakeholders involved in academic research. These issues are particularly acute in medical research, with fake veterinary science journals impacting on researchers, administrators, funders and practitioners alike. With 88 veterinary science journals listed on Cabells' Predatory Reports database, and recent research highlighting the difficulties faced by scholars identifying predatory journals, medical writers have to equip themselves with a critical approach and sound understanding in order to avoid various forms of misinformation
