Laura Kehoe
I am a freelance scientific and medical copyeditor and writer with nearly 3 years of experience of being ‘out on my own’. Previously, I worked for a high impact journal editing and liaising with authors, editors and reviewers during the publication process. My expertise is in neuroscience, hepatology, child and adolescent psychiatry, psychology, and molecular and cellular biology. My freelance work covers various aspects of scientific communications. I work with clients to write and edit articles for journals, I am the online communications editor for a European society, I prepare educational material and deliver courses, as well as grant writing. I like to get stuck into a topic, learn, and communicate clearly the science behind it. I am now the EMWA Freelance Business Group chair and section editor for the ‘Out On Our Own’ in the Medical Writing journal. I joined EMWA in 2016, was a table leader for the freelance business forum in 2017, became a member of the subcommittee in 2018 and took over the chair in 2019.
